31 Day Blogging Challenge Day 5: 10 Songs I Love Right Now

Today's post is about 10 songs I love right now. I decided to choose songs I like but that also get stuck in my head a lot (not always a bad thing). They are mostly all newish and pretty much all country. I spend most of my car rides listening to 94.9 The Bull so a lot of what I hear on a daily basis is country music.

If you don't listen to a lot of country (and don't hate it like some people do) then maybe this post will introduce you to a few new great songs.

1. Fire Away- Chris Stapleton

Fire away
Take your best shot
Show me what you got
Honey, I'm not afraid
Rear back and take aim
And fire away

This video is exceptionally sad and the message of the song is both encouraging and depressing. But it's my favorite Chris Stapleton song and just a really great song in general.

2. Peter Pan- Kelsea Ballerini

You're always gonna fly away, just because you know you can
You're never gonna learn there's no such place as Neverland
You don't understand
You'll never grow up
You're never gonna be a man
Peter Pan

Honestly, I can't think of Peter Pan without picturing Robbie Kay on Once Upon a Time, but I still love this song. They do not play it on the radio nearly enough in my opinion. And I'm sure all a lot of women have encountered a childish man.

3. Blue Ain't Your Color- Keith Urban

Blue looks good on the sky
Looks good on that neon buzzin’ on the wall
But darling, it don’t match your eyes
I’m tellin’ you
You don’t need that guy
It’s so black and white
He’s stealin’ your thunder
Baby, blue ain’t your color

This song is so darn catchy. Every time I hear it, and even when I haven't heard it in a while, it runs through my brain nonstop. I'm not usually a huge fan of Keith Urban songs, even though I like Keith Urban. This is an exception.

4. Darlin' Don't Go- Sundance Head

All I know is I was wrong
To ever treat you that way
Well I'll promise I will never do it again

Lord I know what they say it's true, baby
And I could never live one day without you
Please come home
In case you do not watch the Voice (or American Idol) and have no idea who Sundance Head is, you should Google him. He's a soulful dude with a large beard. But more than that, he seems like a great person and he has this incredible voice that I love to listen to. This song was his original composition and it's pretty great.

5. Pick Any Small Town- Josh Gallagher

Yeah where a 'Welcome' sign on the side of the road
A ribbon on a tree to the troops come home
Where a line in the water, waiting on a bass to bite
Yeah, where a hand-me-down Chevy that grandpa drove
Front porch swing where time ticks slow
Where a hidden piece of heaven most folks drive right by

I'll be honest, I was not the biggest Josh fan when he was on the Voice. So I did not expect to like his original song as much as I did. But it's catchy and Josh's voice reminds me of Justin Moore in this song.

6. Circle of Love- Jennifer Nettles

Circle of love, halo of light
When Jesus was born, on that Christmas night
And oh what a night! That Holy night was
When Bethlehem glowed, in the circle of love

This is a song that I believe was recorded specifically for the Dolly Parton Christmas movie. Dolly and Jennifer sang it on the Voice (I like the Voice in case you haven't noticed) this past season but it wasn't until my cousins wanted to sing it in the church Christmas play that I really listened to the lyrics. It's a great Christmas/Christian song and it worked well in our play.

7. Rock On- Tucker Beathard

Rock on like you don't miss me
Rock on like it's all good
Rock on 'til you forget me
Just like you said you would
I gotta tell you I can't stand
The thought of someone else holding that hand
I should have put a rock on

I like word play and maybe that's part of the reason I like this song so much. This is one of those turn the radio up and sing along songs for me. It's upbeat even though it's about regrets. And I just like it, okay?

8. Forever Country

This song is a compilation of other songs and is sang by numerous country artists. If you have not seen the video, you should look it up. I love when artists come together to do things like this.

9. Song For Another Time- Old Dominion

Let's be brown eyed girl sweet Caroline
Free fallin' small town Saturday night
Before you lose that loving feeling
Let's go dancing on the ceiling
Keep on living that teenage dream
Paradise city where the grass is green
Pretty soon I'll be so lonesome I could cry
But that's a song for another time

This is another one of those songs that gets stuck in my head. But I haven't grown tired of it yet. Also, I have yet to learn all of the words so I need to work on that. The concept of this song is neat. It references several popular songs (and not just in the country genre). I read an article today about the idea behind the song and the fact that they just compiled a lot of their favorite songs and it worked...makes it even better.

10. Die a Happy Man- Thomas Rhett

If I never get to see the Northern lights
Or if I never get to see the Eiffel Tower at night
Oh, if all I got is your hand in my hand
Baby, I could die a happy man

This isn't the newest Thomas Rhett song to come out on the radio, but it's still my favorite. Yes, I've heard it fifty-leven times but I still can't help but turn the radio up when it comes on. It's the new country wedding song!
