pride
noun
- 1.a feeling or deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired.
The word pride often comes with negative connotations. It's one of the seven deadly sins for Pete's sake! But being a proud person (someone with too much pride) and being proud of yourself are different. I'm stalling basically.
This is probably the toughest blog topic yet for me. It's not that I've never been proud of myself, but looking back on my life so far has me scratching my head. What am I most proud of?
And to be honest, I'm still not sure. So I suppose I will pick one that could qualify.
I am proud of myself for graduating college in only 4 years and for doing it with honors. I'm proud I was able to keep my GPA up and keep my scholarship throughout. I had to take a few summer courses over the years and take at least 5 classes a semester, but I managed it. And with only one C (stupid Econ)!
I was really the first person in my immediate family to graduate from a 4 year university so it was a pretty exciting moment. Plus, with all of the scholarships, I only had to take out two student loans and have been able to pay them back in full. And that is definitely something to be happy about.
